Effects of Water Stress on Photosynthetic Rate and Water Use Efficiency of Maize

The trial was based on 7 varieties of maize,which was treated with moderate degree water stress in the flowering growth stages.The effect of water stress on photosynthetic rate,water use efficiency,stomatal conductance and intercellular CO2 concentration was studied.The result showed that the center of photosynthesis response was controlled and the main limiting factor of the photosynthetic rate was the non-stomatal limitation,WUE was positively related to Pn,Gs and Tr,while Ci was in opposite way,WUE of leaves was increased under water stress.
