Concrescence in mandibular teeth – A rare case report

2014
Concrescence is a condition of teeth where thecementum overlying the roots of atleast two teeth join together. It representsan uncommon developmental anomaly and reported to be highest in the posterior maxilla.Detection of concrescence is important as it might cause complications duringextraction, and usually misdiagnosed radiographically as superimposition ofroots of adjacent teeth. We report a rare case of fusion of left mandibularpremolar root with adjacent molar root which was diagnosed post extraction andto our knowledge, very few cases in the literature occurring in mandible hasbeen reported.
