Hormonal control of pregnant women with Rh isoimmunization

1972
Urinary estrogen levels were measured in 50 women whose newborn children suffered from moderate or severe hemolytic disease and the findings were correlated with the results of spectrophotometric tests on the amniotic liquid. In 62% of the cases there was a marked correlation between the results of the 2 types of tests while in the other cases the urinary estrogen test failed to reflect the seriousness of the clinical situation. The report also discusses the possibility of correlating spectrophotometric and hormonal data obtained from the amniotic liquid and the usefulness of testing for different steroids. The report is followed by the proceedings of an extensive discussion on the subject of diagnosis and treatment of Rh isoimmunization among the authors and a number of colleagues.
