Manufacture of gas-atomized powders of FeTMNdREMB alloys and magnets from them

1996
Abstract The highly productive gas atomization method has been used to obtain magnetic alloys of the system FeTMNdREMB. The successful application of gas-atomized powders (GAPs) is ensured by extra doping, classification of powders, grinding of the large fraction of the GAPs by hydrogenation, and laser treatment. The use of GAPs in sintered magnets does not change the mechanism of the formation of coercivity. The observed reduction in the residual induction by 5–10% is connected with the GAP particle size distribution and the Fe 14 Nd 2 B phase grain size distribution within the particles.
