Evaluation of flaws in nuclear piping

Abstract This paper summarizes development of flaw evaluation procedures and allowable flaw sizes for piping used in light water reactors, and focuses on the research conducted by the Electric Power Research Institute in support of Section XI of the ASME Code. The paper also presents development of elastic-plastic fracture analysis methods needed in the development of the code evaluation procedures.
