Flexible Dual-polarized UWB Antennas for Breast Tumor Imaging

2020
In this work, a flexible ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna is designed for breast cancer detection. Dual-polarized monopole antennas are printed on flexible PDMS dielectric (e=2.7, tan δ= 0.02) with a dimension of 32 mm × 32 mm × 0.75 mm. A neutralization line connecting the ground planes of the monopoles and two stubs loaded at the monopole are added to improve the isolation between the antennas. The antenna covers a bandwidth from 4.68 GHz to 11.8 GHz in free space, whereas it operates between 3.1 GHz and 14 GHz when it is mounted on the breast tissue. High fidelity factor has been achieved by the proposed antenna, which is critical for breast imaging.
