The invention discloses an ion optical apparatus. The ion optical apparatus comprises one or more pairs of constraint electrode units, a power supply apparatus, at least one first region and second region, and a control apparatus, wherein the one or more pairs of constraint electrode units are arranged oppositely on the two sides of a first direction in a space and extend in the first direction; the power supply apparatus is used for applying opposite radio frequency voltages to pairs of constraint electrode units respectively and forming multiple direct current potentials distributed in a second direction which is basically orthogonal to the first direction on the constraint electrode units, so as to form potential barrier in the second direction on at least one part of length of the first direction; the at least one first region and second region are positioned in the space and are positioned on the two sides of the potential barrier in the second direction respectively; and the control apparatus is connected with the power supply apparatus and used for controlling the output of the power supply apparatus to change the potential barrier, so as to control the ions which are conveyed or stored in the first region to be transferred to the second region by passing through the potential barrier based on different modes according to different mass-to-charge ratios or mobility ratios to be continuously transferred in the first direction, so that the ion utilization efficiency of other synchronous working apparatuses on the downstream can be improved.
