Communication in road tunnels: Predicted performances of LTE precoding techniques

In the specific case of a tunnel environment, the objective of this paper is to study the performances, in terms of bit error rate, of different transmission schemes proposed in LTE for a single user downlink communication. Since the channel characteristics are quite different in a tunnel compared to an urban/rural environment, measured channel transfer functions in the 3.5 GHz band have been analyzed and used in a simulation tool of an LTE link to compare performances of precoding techniques and transmitting diversity schemes. The reference scenario is a communication between single transmitting/receiving antennas (SISO).
