Concluding Statements and Current Challenges

Estrogens have been shown to be potent mediators of many processes following damage to the brain. This chapter summarizes the major concepts elaborated on in the preceding chapters of the book concerning estrogen-mediated neuroprotection. It summarizes current knowledge and outlines the remaining challenges to be addressed.
