Barreras en la comunicación de malas noticias al final de la vida. Revisión bibliográfica

Objective: The purpose of this study is to know the barriers that lead to doctors and nurses to not communicate bad news. Methods: Original articles written in English and Spanish meeting the inclusion criteria were identified by searching computerized databases (Pubmed, CINAHL and Cuiden) from 2006 to 2016. Results: 13 barriers were identified, which were organized into three categories: barriers related to professionals, barriers related to patients and barriers related to heath system. Conclusions: It should be noted as the main area for improvement, the need of specific training in communication skills of bad news, both in doctors as nurses. More studies are needed to describe the obstacles encountered by health professionals in Spain, focused on quantitative designs and the nursing population.
