Multiple forms of AMP deaminase in rat brain

Abstract Rat brain contained four types of AMP deaminases (AMP aminohydrolase, EC 3.5.4.6) which were separated by phosphocellulose chromatography. They were designated as Types I, II, III and IV, respectively, in the order of their elution from the column. These four AMP deaminases have similar molecular weights and all seem to be allosteric enzymes. They are different in apparent K m values for AMP in the absence or presence of activators.
