A Case of Nephrotic Syndrome with Bilateral Femoral Arterial Thrombosis

1981
A case of nephritic syndrome with bilateral femoral arterial thrombosis in a 8-year-old boy is reported. Seven months have elapsed from the onset of nephritic syndrome to his second relapse when the vascular complication occurred. The claudication, numbness, bluish discoloration and pulselessness of lower extremities developed insidiously after an episode of severe vomiting. Under the diagnosis of bilateral femoral arterial thrombosis, emergency bilateral femoral arterial thrombectomy was done. Anticoagulant therapy was also instituted. Unfortunately, these measures were insufficient to prevent the subsequent necessity of bilateral above-the-knee amputations. At the present time, he is devoting himself to the ambulation training.
