Cizre-Mardin Ulucami kapisinin restorasyonunda radyografi tekniklerinin kullanimi

1987
Cizre-Mardin Ulucami is one of the important mosques from the last period of the Seljuk Empire (13th century) in southeast Anatolia. The door of the mosque has two parts and consists of a brass plate and brass attachments on a wooden base. Some patterns, discovered by chance on the reverse of the brass plate during the restoration, were investigated by x-and neutron radiography. Results established that the door was restored previously and that the brass pieces were taken from different sources. The brass pieces from the second part of the door had some patterned figures on them which radiography determined had been flattened before use as the door plate.
