Nasal hemorrhage is one of the most common conditions, which require emergency measures in the practice of otolaryngologist. Anterior nasal packing with gauze tampon, traditionally used for arrest of bleeding, is rather traumatic for nasal mucosa. The article contains comparative data of the use of a gauze tampon and a polyvinyl alcohol tampon.
