Detection of Salmonella from the commercial egg shell and egg contents and analysis of its drug resistance in Hefei area.

2013
Objective To understand the carrying rate of Salmonella and analyze of their serotype distribution and drug resistance from egg shell and egg content in commercial eggs. Methods A total of 100 eggs from market and supermarket in Hefei were detected by PCR technology and 14 antibiotics were tested by K-B method based on national standards. Results The detection rate of Salmonella from shell surface was 10%(10/100), and egg contents was 1%(1/100); the 11 isolated strains were identified as S. anatum, and they were all resistance to penicillin, 18.2% of them was resistance to streptomycin, 36.4% of them was medium resistance. Conclusion The carrying rate of Salmonella of egg shell surface was higher than that of egg content from commercial eggs, for antibiotic selection pressure could lead to the difference of the serotype and drug resistance of Salmonella isolates.
