NONLINEAR FILTERING FOR NOISE REJECTION USING DSP TECHNOLOGIES WITH APPLICATIONS TO A TELESCOPE POINTING PLATFORM

2001
In the presentation that follows, results from recently developed nonlinear filtering methodologies are applied to a two degree of freedom gimbaled laser/CCD camera focusing and alignment experiment. The hardware setup has been initiated as a testbed for implementing nonlinear and time varying filtering schemes for increased pointing accuracy and robustness to exogenous noise. The filter was programmed on a modern digital signal processor (DSP) based floating point microprocessor for computation of the time varying gains for real time processing. The experiment and processor are well defined in hardware and the expected results from simulation will be presented.
