A STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF NANOSILVER AND SUCROSE ON THE INCREASE VASE LIFE OF ALSTROEMERIA CUT FLOWER (CV. ISOLA)

2014
Alstromeria is a new cut flower in Iran that due to the high performance, long life, and pretty flowers and colors diversity is highly regarded. In order to keeping quality and increase the vase life of cut flowers Alstroemeria, Nanosilver (0, 4, 8 and 12 mgL-1) and sucrose (0, 4 and 6%) treatments were examined. Flowers were placed in protective solution for 24 hours and then were transferred to distilled water. Vase life, relative fresh weight, water uptake, diameter of flower and the number of bacteries, were examined. A Factorial experiment was laid out in Completely Randomized Designs with 3 replicates and each replicate contained 3 flower. Our results show that the Nanosilver in all concentrations had the effective result in prevent the solution bacterial growth in which concentration. Nanosilver treatment with concentration of 12 mgL-1 plus sucrose 6%, with an average vase life of 29.18 days was effective treatments on postharvest life of the flowers. In flower diameter also, the Nanosilver treatment with concentration of 12 mgL-1 plus sucrose 4% was shown to be the most effective treatment. Nanosilver treatment with a concentration of 4 mgL-1 puls sucrose 4%, had the highest effect on increasing the relative fresh weight and the water uptake.
