Arthroscopic-Assisted Repair of Chronic Lateral Ankle Instability

2021
Most of cases of chronic lateral ankle instability (CLAI) are related with supination trauma. This type of event can produce several intra-articular traumatic injuries. Therefore, CLAI can be complicated by the presence of other concomitant articular lesions needing surgical treatment. This treatment can be performed arthroscopically. Most authors recommend an arthroscopic exploration prior to the repair of CLAI, so an arthroscopic procedure for the treatment of CLAI can be a good asset. The arthroscopic Brostrom-Gould procedures developed by the authors are presented. These procedures are safe and reproducible and can be considered as the first line of surgical treatment for most patients with CLAI.
