Research on coal mine inter-accident intervals based on bootstrap

2012
This paper makes an analysis of the inter-accident intervals which are from four divisions of the British Coal Board by bootstrap method. It is carried out from two perspectives: data pre-processing and bootstrap analysis. The conclusions below have been obtained: Firstly, Most of the coal accidents happen in the interval of 0-20 days in all four divisions. Secondly, it is sufficient to estimate the mean and variance by bootstrap method. Thirdly, the bootstrapping result shows that division 3 is the safest division, but it also needs strengthen its safety management.
