Liver Fibrogenesis in Chronic Viral and Alcoholic Liver Disease

Fibrosis is only one of a constellation of histologic features that characterize viral and alcoholic liver disease and is one given particular consideration, because it represents a potentially irreversible form of injury, for which there is little available therapy (1). In the recent past, this specific area of investigation has significantly progressed and the molecular biology techniques are the basis for this terrific improvement (2).
