A better water supply for Turkmenistan

Through the erection of a water pipeline, around 40,000 hectares of steppe in the South of Turkmenistan have been developed for agricultural use under a government program to make Turkmenistan less dependant on food imports. The objective of this programme is to ensure and improve the water supply for agricultural purposes. Siemens Industrial Projects and Technical Services Group, Erlangen, Germany, has erected two pumping stations as turn-key projects under far from everyday conditions, to ensure a sufficient water supply for irrigation. A third station is currently being planned.
