Experimental Investigation of Process Specific Material Behavior of Thermoplastic Hybrid Yarn Textiles

2016
For the manufacturing of complex function integrative lightweight components, the pressing process specific material behavior of thermoplastic hybrid yarn textiles plays a significant role. A fundamental knowledge of the compression and heating behavior of the textile preforms is required for an efficient development of adapted tool systems. This paper focuses on the dependency of compression behavior and thermal conductivity of the glass/ polypropylene textile on varied pressure and temperature values. To analyze the thermal conductivity, the Hot Disc method is used. In general, positive trends for increasing applied pressure and temperature values on the thermal conductivity are obtained.
