Interdisciplinary Programs in Insect Mass Rearing and in Insect Population Management

About 20 years ago, Harry B. Walker (1954), the distinguished Professor of Engineering, University of California, pointed out that “A virile nation is the product of the wisdom of its people. Nations which utilize their human and material resources intelligently reflect a high standard of living for their citizens.” We are concerned in this symposium about how wisely our institutions go about fostering basic and applied research in entomology with the help of the engineering sciences.
