The International Activities of Trade Unions: A Sociohistorical Analysis Based on the Case of Quebec

2006
Mona-Josee Gagnon, Thomas Collombat, and Pierre Avignon explore the mobilization of trade unions against neoliberal globalization and the possibilities for working internationally. They ask whether union resistance to the global extension of neoliberalism represents a new approach in international trade union relations. While some commentators suggest that the trade union movement has experienced a resurgence since the 1990s, their conclusions are less sanguine; the labour movement is still under siege both nationally and internationally.
