[Isoenzymes of alpha-amylase in human serum after thyroid operation].

2002
: The aim of our study was to estimate the influence of partial thyroidectomy on secretion of salivary glands and pancreas. The blood of 20 women was taken before, immediately after operation and in the 1st and in the 4th day after operation. Total activity of alpha-amylase, activity of salivary and pancreas isoenzymes of alpha-amylase and concentration of TSH and fT4 were estimated. During postoperative period we observed the decrease of total activity of alpha-amylase and salivary isoenzyme while pancreatic isoenzyme did not change. Positive correlation (R = 0.63-0.81) was observed between total activity and salivary isoenzyme but there was no correlation between total activity and pancreas isoenzyme. The concentration of TSH increased immediately after and in the 1st day after operation and decreased in the 4th day. The concentration of fT4 increased during postoperative period. There was no relation between changes in pituitary gland-thyroid system and activity of studied isoenzymes. It seems that decreasing of activity of salivary isoenzyme of alpha-amylase after partial thyroidectomy in human may be connected with ischaemia of salivary glands during operation.
