The following Officers, Council Members, Committee Chairmen, and Vice Chairmen were present: Perry O. Barber, Jr., Edward W. Clyde, J. O. Terrell Couch, William H. Drushel, Jr., Charles M. Duecy, Burns H. Errebo, Terry Noble Fiske, Carroll L. Gilliam, Alvin G. Greenwald, Richard J. Greenwald, Jerry L. Haggard, G. W. Haight, J. P. Hammond, Clyde R. Hampton, James T. Hemphill, John B. Howerton, Terrell E. Hunt, Robert B. Krueger, Maxwell S. McKnight, Frank H. Morison, Jerome C. Muys, L. Clair Nelson, Clayton J. Parr, William C. Perry, John R. Rebman, Richard P. Ryan, A. T. Smith, Robert F. Stauffer, Oliver L. Stone, William K. Tell, Jr., Philip K. Verleger, Fredrik S. Waiss, Woollen H. Walshe, John A. Ward III, Charles V. Wheeler, Gary L. Widman, Norman J. Wiener. Others present were: Joyce Cox, Kathleen S. Doyle, Roger M. Leed, Richard A. Johnson. The Chairman called on Mr. Howerton, who submitted a report on a study of election procedures and guidelines. After discussion, upon motion duly made and seconded, the Council voted against the principle of mandatory election procedures and authorized the Chairman to appoint a committee to give further consideration to the proposed guidelines received from the Association, compare them with the Section's present by-laws on election procedures and to furnish the Council with any recommendations which the committee may deem appropriate or desirable in time for appropriate action at the next Council meeting. The Chairman thereupon appointed a special committee made up of Mr. Hammond as Chairman and including Messrs. Clyde, Howerton, Krueger and Smith.
