The invention relates to apparatus for removing laid on a flat surface coverings, comprising a support frame (10) for mounting of drive wheels (16) and for accommodating a motor (17) and a transmission (18) for driving the drive wheels (16) and with a motor-driven cutting knife (25). According to the invention it is provided that on the support frame (11) at least one free rotatable supporting member (21) parallel to the drive wheels (16) is arranged.
