The invention relates to a construction method using steel structure supports as vertical pipe supports of a formwork supporting system and belongs to the field of buildings. The construction method involves a building and is characterized in that the building consists of a lower part, a middle part and an upper part; the lower part is of an integral structure and the number of floors of the lower part is at least one; the middle part consists of two independent units, the number of floors of the two independent units is n which is greater than 2, and the distance between the two independent units is at least 5m; the upper part is of an integral structure; the number of floors of the upper part is at least one; floor slabs are arranged on the two sides of the two independent units, a plurality of steel structure supports are arranged between the bottom plate of the nth floor and the bottom plate of the (n-1)th floor between the two independent units, and are supported between the bottom plate of the nth floor and the bottom plate of the (n-1)th floor on the two sides of the two independent units, and a layer of wood plates are laid on the steel structure supports; the formwork supporting system is installed on the steel structure supports. The construction method using steel structure supports as vertical pipe supports of the formwork supporting system has the advantages that the work quantity can be reduced, the labor consumption and the used material amount are reduced, the construction period is shortened, the working efficiency is improved and the cost is reduced.
