Disclosed are stable aqueous polyurethane latexes prepared from formulations including a polyisocyanate and a polyol component component, wherein 5 to 40 weight percent of the polyol component is ethylene oxide in the form of applied ethylene oxide as a terminal capping an oxide polyol of propylene or higher oxyalkylene polyoxyalkylene, and no more than 45 percent by weight of the polyol component is ethylene oxide. These latexes are prepared without the use of organic solvents.
