Content analysis and quality evaluation of effective component in different introduced Bupleurum chinense varieties.

【Objective】The content of effective components in nine different introduced Bupleurum chinense varieties was measured and the quality was evaluated to provide references for rational exploitation and utilization of Radix bupleuri. 【Method 】The content of alcohol soluble extract, polysaccharides, saponins and saponin a,d in nine different introduced Bupleurum chinense varieties were determined by hot dipping method, anthrone- sulfuric acid, UV-visible spectropholometry and HPLC, and was evaluated with the grey pattern recognition method. 【Result 】The content of alcohol soluble extract and the sum of saponin a and d in nine different introduced Bupleurum chinense varieties met the requirements of 2010 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia, but there were obvious differences in the content of effective components in these different kinds. The content of Bupleurum alcohol soluble extract and polysaccharide was the highest, while the content of total saponins, saponin a and d was the lowest from Anguo of Hebei. The content of total saponins, saponin a and d was the highest, while the content of Bupleurum alcohol soluble extract was the lowest from Longxi of Gansu. The content change of total saponins and saponin a was consistent from Longxi of Gansu, Anguo of Hebei, Leling of Shandong, Heze of Shandong and Shaodong of Hunan, and there was a certain correlation. The grey correlation degree from Longxi of Gansu was the highest(0.7972), and the quality was the best. The grey correlation degree from Heze of Shandong was the lowest(0.6630), and the quality was the worst. 【Conclusion】There are significant differences among different introduced Bupleurum chinense varieties in the content of effective components and quality.The content of total saponins from Gansu of Longxi is the highest and the quality is the best, which is worth further research and popularization of planting in Tangshan city.
