Syncope in advanced A-V block induced by micturition
1963
Abstract A case of syncope in advanced A-V block induced by micturition in a 62-year-old woman is reported. This is a unique phenomenon. One attack was recorded electrocardiographically and was found to be due to ventricular fibrillation induced by frequent premature ventricular beats coinciding with the so-called vulnerable phase of the ventricular cycle of the predominant beats. A possible neurogenic reflex mechanism for producing these attacks and its relation to micturition syncope is discussed.
