A study of the relationship between children's loneliness and parenting

2004
The study focuses on the relationship between children's loneliness and parenting by using a questionnaire. 331 students who are in grade four, five or six of a primary school in Beijing were interviewed. The results indicate that sex difference obviously exists in the children's loneliness, the average score of boys is higher than that of girls; but there is no grade difference. Certain relationship between parenting and loneliness does exist. Inappropriate parental rearing is one of the determinant factors of their children's loneliness, so parents should adjust their rearing style.
