Immunomodulatory effects of Yunpihuashidecoction in the treatment of pediatric rotavirus enteritis with damp heat syndrome

2018
Objective To investigate the effect of Yunpihuashidecoction in the treatment of pediatric rotavirus enteritis(PRE) with damp heat syndrome and its immunoregulatory effect. Methods From September 2014 to April 2016, 83 rotavirus enteritis children with damp heat syndrome enrolled in our hospital were divided into the control group(n=40) and the observation group(n=43). The control group were given oral rehydration salts, mucosal protective agent montmorillonite powder, and microbial preparation Bacillus subtilis. The observation group were given Yunpihuashidecoction based on the standard treatment as in the control group. The lymphocyte subsets and immunoglobulins of all patients were detected by flow cytometry and transmission turbidimetric method before and after treatment. Results Before treatment, there was no significant differences in T lymphocyte subsets(CD3, CD4 and CD4/CD8), immunoglobulin (IgA, IgG and IgM), stool frequency, stool feature, fever and vomiting(P<0.05), between the observation and control groups. After treatment, compared with the control group, the T lymphocyte subsets and immunoglobulin had increased(P<0.05), the main symptom score had significantly decreased(P<0.05) in the observation group.Compared with the control group, the invalid cases in the observation group was less and the total effective cases was more(P<0.05). Conclusion The Yunpihuashidecoctioncan can treat pediatric rotavirus enteritis with damp heat syndrome by improving immune function.
