Buried rigid pipes : structural design of pipelines

1984
Following general considerations on pipe design, selection and installation, methods of calculating loads on pipes are outlined. The supporting strength of pipes is discussed together with special conditions. Causes of movements are outlined, and provision against movement, such as use of flexible pipe joints are outlined. Aspects of installation are considered, and a special study is made of the nature of faults and failures. A chapter is devoted to design procedure while recent developments are reviewed in the final chapter. Although this book is specifically concerned with pipes of rigid materials, some information on "flexible" pipes and on their behaviour and use is included. (TRRL)
