In the 1960s and 1970s writers, studying the national character at a new stage of national destiny, followed, in many ways, a similar road. They began with a comprehensive review of the character and noted the most important things in it. Later, the need arose to understand: Why are we what we are? Our attention is drawn to the destiny of the people. Our pondering of the character and destiny of the people reaches its conclusion in the views of writers on the essence of the national idea.
