Orem’s Self-Care Deficit Theory of Nursing and Nursing Care in Posttraumatic Epilepsy This case-study presents the nursing care of an adolescent patient who was admitted to the emergency room with “posttraumatic epilepsy (PTE)” using Orem’s “Self-care Deficit Theory”. Each step of the theory will be summarized in accordance with the patient data. Three main factors influenced the patient’s self care needs; being in the adolescent stage of growth and development, having a diagnosis of PTE and the characteristics of his seizures. Nursing interventions described as they related to the patient’s data.
