Preliminary Study on Molluscicidal Effects of Extracts From Sarcotesta of Ginkgo Biloba

2006
Objective: To test the killing effects of Benzinum extract and Aqueous extract from sarcotesta of Ginkgo biloba on snail respectively. Methods: Using hypersound abstraction and hot water bath circumfluence to get benzinum and aqueous extracts from sarcotesta of Ginkgo biloba, then prepare a series of different concentration of solution using dechlorination water and set snails in these solutions to observe the effect timely. Results: Both solutions of sarcotesta of Ginkgo biloba extract had the effect of killing, while the benzinum extract was stronger, which could kill 100 percent of snails(Oncomelania hupensis) when the concentration reaches to 1.25 mg/L for 24 hours.Conclutions: The extract of the sarcotesta of Ginkgo biloba had a stronger snail killing effect,so these preparations were a kind of snail-killing drug from plants source which may be of great development.
