A two-dimensional phase coding for range ambiguity suppression

2018
Abstract Based on a two-dimensional phase coding, a novel range ambiguity suppression technique is proposed in this paper. By transmitting two-dimensional phase coded signals, the two-dimensional spectrum of the range ambiguous signals will be shifted along both range and azimuth directions compared with that of desired signals. Then, part of the two-dimensional spectrum of the range ambiguous signals will be located outside the two-dimensional spectral support, which is known in priori, of the desired signals. Considering the range frequency and Doppler oversamplings, a filter corresponding to the two-dimensional spectral support of the desired signals is applied, which suppresses the range ambiguity. Simulation results of both point targets and distributed targets validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
