Antibodies Which React with Nucleic Acids

1966
Summary During the past 5 years, several procedures for inducing antibodies capable of reacting with nucleic acids have been developed. These include immunization with phage lysates, ribosomes, purines, and pyrimidines or derivatives thereof coupled to proteins and polypeptides, denatured DNA or oligodeoxynucleotides complexed with methylated bovine serum albumin, and Gram-negative bacteria. It is now possible, therefore, to apply immunochemical procedures to the investigation of the chemical and biologic properties of nucleic acids, and some potential applications are discussed.
