A REVIEW ON XU TONGQIANG'S ZI-BASED LINGUISTIC THOUGHT

The concept of "Character-oriented" thought was proposed by Prof.Xu Tongqiang,and the linguistic thought of Chinese semantic syntax is studied.The main ideas of Xu's Character-oriented" theory is briefly summarized from two aspects—"Character-oriented" and Chinese semantic structure.Chinese semantic syntax and the formulating reasons of his thought are deeply analyzed in the paper.Lastly the conclusion is drawn that Xu's "Character-oriented" thought has revolutionary significance for the linguistic study of Chinese to get rid of mechanical simulation,it is also important to study and innovate independently.
