New measurements of equilibrium charge state distributions of fast medium heavy ions in mylar

Abstract Equilibrium charge state distributions in mylar have been measured for heavy ions ranging in atomic number between 8 and 21 and in energy per nucleon between 5.5 and 9 MeV. The experimental data are compared with semi-empirical models. A new phenomenological model is proposed to describe the asymmetric high energy distributions.
