14 Sub‐Saharan Africa: human genetics

This chapter uses newly derived autosomal genetic data on African populations to propose a population history based on the distributions of eight different ancestral configurations, classified in terms of the linguistic families discussed in chapters 12 and 13. Keywords: genetics; Holocene; Africa
