Although CO2 emission usually arises from the same processes that also cause traditional pollution, there is less cross-fertilization than what would be considered desirable between the two dossiers. Rotterdam already had an action plan several years ago (RAP/RAL) aimed at improving air quality and realizing the standards. A more recent initiative is the Rotterdam Climate Initiative in which targets for CO2 reduction are shaped. It became evident quite soon that it is necessary to screen the existing action plan for climate effects and the CO2 plans for possible consequences for air quality. This article discusses a number of examples. [mk]. [Dutch] Hoewel CO2-uitstoot veelal ontstaat in dezelfde processen die ook de traditionele luchtverontreiniging veroorzaken, is de kruisbestuiving tussen beide dossiers vooralsnog minder dan wellicht wenselijk is. In Rotterdam bestond al enige jaren een actieplan (RAP/RAL) gericht op het verbeteren van luchtkwaliteit en het halen van de normen. Van recenter datum is het Rotterdam Climate Initiative, waarin de doelen voor CO2-reductie gestalte moeten krijgen. Al snel ontstond het besef dat het nodig is om het bestaande actieplan door te lichten op klimaateffecten en de CO2-plannen op mogelijke gevolgen voor de luchtkwaliteit. In dit artikel wordt een aantal voorbeelden besproken.
