Caracterización florística de un fragmento del humedal Torca-Guaymaral (Bogotá, Cundinamarca)

2006
Although the existing wetlands of the Sabana de Bogota are considered strategic ecosystems, at the present time they are highly endangered by urban expansion. Considering that at the green area, in the middle of the northern highway, a wetland fragment still exists in which some wildlife is present, a habitat characterization was made as a first step for further management plans. using the line transect and section sampling, a vegetation survey was made. From the 70 species identified only 13 can be considered typical wetland plants. The presence of rushlike vegetation and emergent meadows offers an appropriate habitat for the survival of a variety of fauna. The isolated condition and the small area of the fragment, together with the threat to the habitat quality, could have a negative influence on the remnant wildlife populations.
