The role of T-box 2 in tumor biology and translational research

2018
The T-box 2 (TBX2) protein encoded by TBX2 gene is an important transcription factor, which guides the axial development of the embryo, the tissues and organs. Recent studies have made breakthrough on the roles of TBX2 in tumor translational research. The abnormal expression of TBX2 can promote malignant transformation of cells, anti-senescence and promote proliferation of tumor cells. TBX2 also involves in various signaling pathways and influences proliferation or apoptosis of tumor cells, which plays crucial roles in tumorigenesis and progression of varied tumors. Thus, a comprehensive overview of the roles of TBX2 in tumor biology and translational medicine would be helpful to investigate the mechanism and application prospect of anti-tumor therapy. Key words: T-box 2; Signal transduction; Molecular targeted therapy
