RECENT RESEARCH ON THE APPLICATION AND PRACTICAL EFFECTS OF SOLIDIFIERS

ABSTRACT A Petroleum Environmental Research Forum (PERF) project, entitled Solidifiers for Oil Spill Response, was conducted by Exxon between 1993 and 1995 (Cardello et al., 1994). This paper highlights the results of the recent project. The main focus was on evaluating existing application equipment for potential use in applying solidifiers and subsequently solidifying the oil. The study also identified options for recovery, removal, and disposal.
