The results of the work on the industrial tests of the dry refractory gunning bodies in the tundish lining at the three-strand continuous caster have been presented. The work has been performed to search the economical and wear-resistant materials for casting the steel under production conditions of the OAO “Izhstal’”. The eleven grades of the gunning bodies made by the various producers have been tested. And their service durability during the action of the slag formed in the tundish has been determined. The influence of the MgO content in the refractory gunning bodies and the grade composition of the steel on the wear of the lining working layer has been established. The test of the compaction of the gunning bodies in the lining process by means of the vibration processing has been carried out. The grades of the gunning bodies for the tundish gunning bodies under the existing conditions of the production have been chosen. The gunning bodies provide the cast heat amount of up to 12 during continuous casting of the steel with the closed stream.
