Determination of the olive psyllid [Euphyllura straminea Loginova (Hemiptera: Psyllidae)] species, population dynamics in olive orchards in Adana and Mersin provinces (Turkey).

2011
The ultimate aim of this study is to identify the Euphyllura spp. in Adana and Mersin region and find out the biological characteristics of this species such as over wintering, population development of egg, nymph, adult process and fertility. According to this psyllid population development the shoot samples have been taken in three olive orchards periodically between the years 2008-2010. The number of eggs nymph and adult has been counted by knock-down method. Its determined that the population of egg was occurred 2-3 peaks on April, October and January. Reproduction of E. straminea was found out as 2-3 times per year. Adults have been through out all year and began to diapauses in June that lasting till early October. As a result, it is found out that the population fluctuation of E. straminea has beenrelated to the climatic conditions and plant phenology.
