Preliminary Study on Antimicrobial Active of Protein Crude Extracts from Sophora alopecuroides L.

2009
The crude toxin protein was obtained from the seeds of bitter beans(Sophora alopecuroides L.) by the ammonium sulfate fractionation precipitation. The crude toxin protein inhibit the activity of two kinds of typical fungi. The results showed that the crude toxin protein have obvious inhibitive effect on Penicillium italicum and Alternaria alternate by 0.5 g/mL 30%,40%,and 50% ammonium sulfate fractionation precipitation treatment. The crude toxin proteins were tested for the agglutinating activity. The results showed that the antimicrobial protein of bitter beans might contain the lectin. This study may provide some scientific evidences for manufacturing antimicrobial drug and breeding transgenic antimicrobial plants.
