A Simple Procedure for ABO Typing of Dried Bloodstains on Fibers by the Absorption-Elution Technique

1973
The technique outlined below is based on the absorption-elution method of Nickolls and Pereira (1962) and is used routinely in our laboratory for the ABO typing of dried bloodstains. Our principal modification of the method is the introduction of a vacuum filtration step which we believe to be a more efficient procedure for washing the fiber samples than has been described previously. We have also described a procedure which allows repetitive absorption-elution tests to be performed on the same samples of fibers. Most of the material in this paper was presented to the California Association of Criminalists, San Francisco, October 1969.
